Our Story
From laborer to owner
In 2014, Carlos Solis took a job as a roofing laborer — carrying bundles, running the tear-off, learning the trade in the summer heat and the November cold. Over the next decade he worked nearly every position on a crew: shingles, flat roofs, flashing, siding, gutters, and finally running jobs and training other installers.
He kept noticing the same thing. The companies that did beautiful work often treated customers like a transaction, and the companies that were friendly often cut corners where nobody could see. He and his wife, Zoyla Solis, decided there was room for a contractor that did both — careful work and straight talk.
In 2024, they founded JNC Construction of Rockford LLC, based in Belvidere. Carlos runs the crews and the rooftops; Zoyla runs the office, the scheduling, and the communication that most contractors are bad at. It's a small company on purpose — small enough that an owner is on or near every job.
What we believe
A roof, siding, and gutters are one system. When they're installed by three different companies that never talk to each other, the seams between them are where the leaks start. Handling all three ourselves means the details line up and there's one company to call if anything ever goes wrong.
The People
Owner-run, family-operated
Carlos Solis
Started in roofing in 2014 as a laborer and came up through every role on the crew. Carlos personally inspects jobs, builds the estimates, and leads the installs. If it has your address on it, he's seen it in person.
Zoyla Solis
Runs scheduling, materials, permits, warranty paperwork, and customer communication. Zoyla is the reason you get called back — and the reason your project actually stays on schedule.
